My assessor's records show that CitiFinancial owns a house from foreclosure, why did the realtor say….?

The realtor showed us a house. He said that he sold it in 2003, but the guy went through foreclosure. The assessor’s records were updated on 6/15/07 and shows that CitiFinancial Mortgage Co took ownership. He also said that they had problems for a few months on getting the title cleared.
