Is a criminal justice degree worth it?

I was told that you dont need a criminal justice degree to be a cop you just need 60 credit hours. I need to know I am graduating hs in 2012. Also, if I go for economic criminal invistagstion could I still be a cop? http://bit.ly/qtcnse
