I was wondering if some could explain how PCI-e16 works and connects to the smaller PCI-e1 slots?

I have a M/B with one PCI-E x16 and two smaller slots below it called PCI-E x1. Can the video card also connect to these slots or other cards for that matter. And how do you connect them if you can? The card is a 7800 gt PCI-Ex16 / SLI M/B Machspeed 939 Viper. http://bit.ly/jxfa7L
